Whilst I had Bulgaria as a 'winner without Finland' and in a Top 4 and Top 5 combo the win by that margin was a surprise. Those Top 4/5 bets saved me and finished up making a good profit and I may well concentrate more on them next year as I got 9/10 for the Top 10.
You'll see that only 17 points separated places 3 to 6 and, had Bulgaria not put on such a great show, it could have been any of those who won, reminding us just how unpredictable a winner for this competition can be, whilst I find identifying the main contenders easy enough.
On the night, Australia and Israel looked like one of them they had it in the bag, Finland really suffering from a glitch or two in the performance where the camera was in the wrong place and the violin mic was faulty. There were several other transmission errors too but expect to see many more attractive girls with minimal clothing doing good old bang bang euro-pop next year. The days of the operatic girl-boy with exotic background and setting may be over, for a while. As for the UK, I did not expect the bottom placing but it was, I guess, rubbish. As always, Greece gave Cyprus 12 points - the song only got 29 in total from the other 34 countries! Cyprus also gave Greece 12 points - a sixth of their total.
I have also found the votes for the two Semi finals:
Had we seen those earlier on Saturday then the evening would not have come as such a surprise.
